Living From The New Self
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
You can be doing everything “right” and still feel a strange hesitation when it’s time to step up. That pause is not a lack of progress, it’s often a sign you’re still seeing yourself through an old lens, even while your life is asking for the new you to lead.
I’m Andre Flax, a certified life and leadership coach, and I’m walking through what it really means to live from the new self consistently, not just when it feels comfortable. Using the story of two followers who walked beside Jesus without recognizing him, we explore how transformation can be present without being fully acknowledged. If you’ve been growing, thinking differently, and responding differently but still shrink in key moments, this conversation will help you name what’s happening and shift your awareness.
You’ll leave with five practical ways to anchor your identity: making decisions from identity instead of emotion, speaking from alignment, choosing consistency over intensity, trusting the transformational process without constant validation, and staying present so the “new self” is not a future goal but a current way of being. These are simple personal growth practices, but they’re powerful for self-mastery, confidence, emotional resilience, and lasting mindset change.
If this resonates, share it with a friend who’s in a growth season, subscribe so you don’t miss what’s next, and leave a review or comment where you listen. What’s one situation where you’re ready to stop waiting and start living from who you already are?

SPEAKER_00Welcome to Transformative Living Radio, where we explore the power of intentional change for personal growth and fulfillment. I'm Andre Flax, your host and certified life and leadership coach. Every time you press play to listen to this podcast, you're making a decision. A decision to grow, a decision to reflect, and a decision to become more intentional about the life you're creating. Now, before we get into today's episode, I want to remind you of something that changed everything for me. There was a time in my life where on the outside I was doing everything right. But internally, I didn't believe I was worthy of lasting success. So even when good things happened, I couldn't fully embrace them. Because in the back of my mind, I was always waiting for something to go wrong. But everything began to shift when I realized something powerful. That the way I saw myself wasn't fixed. And that real change doesn't start on the outside, it starts from within. And that's what this podcast is all about: helping you to master yourself from the inside out so your life can begin to reflect the person you're becoming. So grab a pen and a pad, and if you're ready, let's begin. Hello and welcome to another empowering episode of Transformative Living Radio. I'm Andre Flax, your host and certified life and leadership coach. Now it's written in the Bible that after the resurrection of Jesus, two of his followers were walking along the road. They were confused, discouraged, trying to make sense of everything that just happened. And as they were walking, the Bible says a third person joined them in the form of Jesus. But here's what's powerful they don't recognize him. They walk with him, they talk with him, they even listen to him, but they still see him through the lens of what they believe before. It isn't until later when their awareness shifts that they finally realize who's been with them the entire time. Now let's bring this close to home, because you don't have to be on that road to experience that moment. You've been doing the work, you've been growing, thinking differently, responding differently, and yet there are moments where you step into a situation that calls for the new version of you. Maybe it's a conversation, a new opportunity, or a decision that needs to be made. And instead of standing fully in who you've become, you hesitate, you second guess, you shrink, even if it's just a little. You go back to the old language, the old patterns, old ways of seeing yourself. Not because you haven't changed, but because part of you is still looking at yourself through an old lens. And that's what we want to talk about today. Because it's one thing to release the old version of you, it's another thing to fully live as the new one. So today we're stepping into what it really means to live from the new self. Not occasionally, not when it feels comfortable, but consistently. Now, at the beginning of your transformational journey, everything feels like effort. You're trying to think differently, you're trying to respond differently, you're trying to show up differently, and that's all a part of the process. But eventually something shifts. You're no longer trying to be the new version of you, you begin becoming it. There's a difference between acting confident and being someone who is confident. There's a difference between practicing peace and being someone who lives from peace. You see, the shift happens when behavior becomes identity. Not something you do, but something you are. Now most people live their lives reaching, reaching for success, reaching for validation, reaching for peace. But when you live from the new self, you're no longer reaching. You're expressing. You're not trying to get confidence, you're moving as someone who already has it. You're not trying to find peace, you're making decisions from it. You don't wait for life to confirm who you are, you live from that identity first. Now here's the truth. Even after you step into this new version of yourself, the old version may still try to resurface. Not because you've failed, but because it's well practiced. This is where stability matters. When the old self rises, you don't panic, you don't question your growth, you return. Return to your awareness, you return to your identity, you return to who you've chosen to be. So, how do we consistently live from the new self? Well, let me give you five simple but powerful ways to continue living from the new self. Number one, make decisions from identity, not emotion. You see, most people make decisions based on how they feel. But feelings fluctuate. Identity anchors. Instead of asking, how do I feel right now? You might ask, who am I choosing to be in this moment? You might feel nervous, but the version of you you're becoming still speaks. You might feel uncertain, but that version still moves. Number two is to speak from alignment. Pay attention to your language. Are you still speaking from the old version of you? Saying things like, I'm not ready, I'm trying, I don't know. Or are you speaking from alignment? Saying things like, I'm growing into this, I'm learning this, or I'm becoming this. You see, what you consistently say, you begin to believe. And what you believe becomes identity. Number three is to move with consistency, not intensity. You see, most people rely on motivation, but motivation fades. But consistency builds identity. Small actions, daily alignment, that's how the new self is built. Number four is to trust a transformational process without constant validation. Now there'll be moments where life hasn't caught up yet, and in those moments, you trust. You don't need constant proof because the shift has already happened. Now, number five is to stay present. You see, your old self lives in the past, but the new self lives now. Ask yourself, how would the new version of me show up right now and then do that? You see, you don't step into the new self someday, you step into your new self right now. Now, as we come to the end of this episode, I want to take us back to the road where the two men were walking. They were confused, searching, trying to make sense of what had just happened. And the whole time, what they were looking for was already walking beside them. Now they weren't lost, they just didn't recognize what was already present because they were still seeing through an old lens. And maybe that's where you've been. You've been growing, you've been doing the work, becoming someone new. But you're still looking at yourself through the eyes of who you used to be. Still questioning, still hesitating, still waiting for confirmation for something that has already happened within you. Because here's the truth: you're not becoming the new self. You've already become them. The confidence you are looking for, the clarity you've been searching for, the stability you've been trying to build, it's already within you. The only shift left is recognition. Just like those two men on the road, the moment they saw clearly, everything changed. So this week, stop waiting to become. Stop waiting to feel ready. And start living from who you already are. Because what you've been searching for has been walking with you. Well, that's our show for today.
