Feeling The Wish Fulfilled: How To Prepare Emotionally For What You Want
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
A boy brings an umbrella to a village prayer for rain. The sky is clear, but he’s already ready. That image sets the tone for a powerful exploration of emotional readiness—how to practice the feeling of the wish fulfilled so your inner life stops waiting on external wins to feel whole.
We dig into why the subconscious follows what feels familiar, not what you say you want, and how that single principle explains cycles of self-sabotage. If anxiety is home, you’ll return to it; if pressure is normal, you’ll recreate it. We share practical tools to retrain your nervous system through repetition, not intensity: slower breathing in uncertainty, steadier speech before results, and composed responses when panic is available. The goal is emotional familiarity—making calm, confidence, and peace feel safe enough to stay.
Then we apply this readiness to real arenas: money, love, and confidence. In finances, you end fear-led decisions and scarcity narratives so choices come from values and stability. In relationships, you stop rehearsing abandonment and overanalyzing silence, allowing connection without shrinking. For confidence, you quit practicing inadequacy and let your voice hold steady even if it shakes. Across each domain, alignment replaces desperation, and small, repeatable shifts compound into pattern-level change.
We close by reframing control: you can’t rush timing, but you can prepare your inner world. Awareness reveals who you’ve been, assumptions let you choose differently, and feeling makes it real. Prepare the ground. Carry the umbrella. And if this conversation moved you, subscribe, share with a friend, and leave a quick review so more people can find the show. Want hands-on support? SPEAKER_01Welcome to Transformative Living Radio, where we explore the power of intentional change for personal growth and fulfillment. I'm Andre Flax, your host and certified life and leadership coach. There once was a village facing the worst drought in generations. The ground had cracked open, crops had failed, and fears settled like dusk on every doorstep. So the elders of the village called for a day of prayer. The entire village gathered in the center of town, lifting their voices asking for rain. But among the crowd stood a young boy holding an umbrella. The sky was clear, no clouds anywhere. Some of the villagers laughed, others whispered, Why would you bring that, some ask? The boy simply said, Well, if we're praying for rain, shouldn't we be ready for it? You see, the umbrella represents what Neville Goddard called the feeling of the wish fulfilled. You see, most people pray, most people hope, and most people want change, but very few carry an umbrella. So in today's episode, we want to talk about what that means in everyday practical terms. So grab a pen and a pad, and if you're ready, let's begin. Hello and welcome to another empowering episode of Transformative Living Radio. I'm Andre Flax, your host and certified life and leadership coach. Have you ever achieved something you once desired or prayed for, only to find that the feeling inside remained the same? I mean, promotions come, but you still felt anxious. You began a new relationship, but your heart still felt guarded. Opportunities appeared, but you still were doubtful. The rain fell, but there was no umbrella. Because here's the truth we don't experience the fulfillment of our desires when it arrives externally, we experience fulfillment when it arrives internally. The feeling of the wish fulfilled means this: you begin cultivating the emotional stability of the person who already has what you desire. Now, this is not pretending, it's not performing, but is emotional preparing. Ask yourself, if the outcome I want already existed or was already secure, how would I move? How would I speak? How would I breathe? You see, most people delay the feeling. They say within themselves internally, I'll feel relaxed when the money comes, I'll feel secure when the relationship stabilizes, and I'll feel confident when they validate me. But here's the thing the umbrella comes first. Now, here's where it gets deeper. Your subconscious does not respond to your goals, it responds to what feels true. Let me repeat that. Your subconscious mind does not respond to your goals, it responds to what feels true. If anxiety feels familiar, you'll return to it. If pressure feels normal, you'll recreate it. If unworthiness feels safe, you'll guard it. Now there's a quiet tragedy to this, because people often sabotage answered prayers because their internal state hasn't changed. The opportunity shows up, but they hesitate. Love arrives, but they mistrust. The breakthrough comes, but they shrink back. Not because they don't want it, because they don't feel at home in it. The umbrella feels strange in clear skies, so they put it down. Now, the work of this episode is not about emotional intensity, it's about emotional familiarity. You practice the feeling until it feels natural. Calm becomes normal, confidence becomes steady, peace becomes safe. So, what does this look like in real life? Well, it's subtle. You breathe slower during uncertainty, you speak with steadiness before results show up. You respond with composure even when you could panic. You carry the umbrella, not because the rain is visible, but because you trust it. Now, this doesn't mean denying reality, it means refusing to let the present condition dictate your internal posture. Now, here's something powerful. When you emotionally prepare for what you desire, you begin making decisions from alignment instead of desperation. And alignment changes outcomes. The farmer who prepares the soil before the rain doesn't panic during drought, they work with expectation, not fear. And that's the shift. Now I want you to pause and ask yourself what feeling have I been postponing until something changes? What emotion do I believe I'll finally experience when things improve? And what would it look like to practice that feeling now, even slightly? Now let's make this more concrete. If you're believing for a financial breakthrough, carrying the umbrella doesn't mean reckless spending or denial of responsibility. It means you stop operating from panic. It means your decisions are no longer driven by the fear of loss. It means you stop talking about yourself like someone who is barely surviving. Now, if you desire love, carrying the umbrella doesn't mean pretending someone is already in your life. It means you stop reacting like abandonment is inevitable. You stop overanalyzing silence. You stop shrinking to secure affection. Now, if your desire is confidence, carrying the umbrella doesn't mean forcing boldness. It means you stop rehearsing inadequacy internally. You allow your voice to be steady even if it shakes slightly. You begin to act from sufficiency instead of scarcity. Now here's the shift. When you emotionally prepare for what you desire, your nervous system begins to stabilize around it. And when your nervous system stabilizes, your behavior changes. When your behavior changes, your patterns change. And when your patterns change, your results change. But it all begins with feeling. Not intensity, but repetition. Think about this. How many years have you rehearsed doubt? How many years have you practiced bracing? How many years have you felt, quote, not yet? That rehearsal became identity. So this work is simply new rehearsal. Small moments. You pause instead of spiraling, you breathe instead of reacting. You speak as if you belong even when it feels new. And at first, it will feel unfamiliar, and that's normal. You see, the umbrella feels strange when the sky is clear, but over time, unfamiliar becomes natural. And here's something powerful I want you to remember. When you consistently feel like someone who is already supported, already capable, already steady, you stop chasing outcomes to validate you. You start making decisions from alignment, and alignment eliminates desperation. That's the quiet power of this teaching. You don't force life to change, you stabilize internally until life begins to mirror the stability you carry. You don't wait for the rain to believe it's coming, you prepare the ground. You carry the umbrella. So let's return to the village. The boy in the story didn't control the weather, he controlled his readiness. And that's what this work is all about. You see, you can't force outcomes, you can't rush timing, but you can prepare your internal world. You see, awareness shows you who you were being. Assumptions let you choose differently. But feeling is what makes it real. So this week, don't just ask for rain, carry the umbrella. Now, in our next episode, we're going to talk about the force that determines whether you hold on to that umbrella or you drop it when doubt creeps in. And that's your attention. Because whatever you consistently give your attention to grows. Well, that's our show for today. We hope that you found this episode both insightful and inspiring.
