Standing In Your Own Authority: Trusting The Power Within

The quiet revolution begins when you stop seeking permission to be yourself. Have you ever noticed how we're conditioned from childhood to outsource our authority? We measure our worth by likes, performance reviews, and applause—but transformation never happens in that space of hesitation.

Standing in your own authority isn't about controlling others or chasing impressive titles. It's about the profound strength that emerges when your beliefs, values, and actions align perfectly. It's recognizing that your inner wisdom deserves as much respect as the opinions that constantly bombard you from the outside world.

In this powerful exploration of self-trust, I share four practical strategies to reclaim your inner authority: creating stillness to hear your inner voice, making decisions without over-explaining, protecting your energy through boundaries, and owning your unique story without apology. Through personal examples and client stories, we discover that every breakthrough in life begins at that pivotal moment when you finally trust yourself enough to act.

The journey to standing in your authority isn't always easy—it means challenging years of conditioning that taught you to seek external validation. But when you begin living from this place of authentic power, you'll notice that doors start opening, confidence naturally rises, and you realize the authority you've been seeking was within you all along. Ready to step into your full power? Join me for this transformative conversation that might just change how you show up in your life tomorrow morning.

Welcome to Transformative Living Radio, where we explore the power of intentional change for personal growth and fulfillment. I'm Andre Flax, your host and certified life and leadership coach. In our last episode, we talked about finding strength in solitude, the power of being able to stand alone. Today, we're taking that idea one step further, because standing alone isn't just about surviving silence. It's about learning to trust the power that already lives inside you. In today's episode, we want to explore the idea of standing in your own authority, trusting the power from within. Now, to be clear when I say authority, I don't mean controlling others or barking orders or chasing titles. I mean the quiet strength that comes from alignment, from knowing who you are, what you value and having the courage to walk in it. So if you've ever been second-guessing yourself, waiting for validation or holding back because you were worried about what others think, I want you to lean in, because today I'm going to share with you how to reclaim your authority and start living in a place of confidence, clarity and power. So grab a pen and a pad and if you're ready, let's begin. Hello and welcome to another empowering episode of Transformative Living Radio. I'm Andre Flax, your host and certified life and leadership coach. In today's episode, we want to explore the idea of standing in your own authority, the ability to trust the power from within you. Now, when I say authority, I don't mean controlling others or barking orders or chasing titles. I mean the quiet strength that comes from alignment, from knowing who you are and what you value, and then having the courage to walk in it. I want to start with this question why do we struggle so much to trust ourselves?

Speaker 1:

Most of us have been conditioned since childhood to seek approval. Think about it when you were little or a child how often did you hear raise your hand before you speak, don't talk back or do it this way, not that way. Now, growing up, that type of discipline and guidance was necessary. However, over time, we can start to believe that everyone else's voice is more important than our own. I once had a client who said to me Andre, I just want someone to tell me what to do, and I understood that, because the world teaches us to outsource our authority. We learn to measure ourselves by the likes we get, by a performance review and by the applause we might seek, and when those voices are silent, we tend to panic. But here's the problem If you constantly wait for outside permission, you'll always hesitate, you'll always stall, you'll always live at half power. And let me tell you, there is no transformation in hesitation. So what does it really mean to stand in your own authority? Well, it means to stop outsourcing your worth. It means to stop waiting for the world to co-sign what God has already placed inside of you. You see, authority is not about position. It's not about the size of your paycheck or even the title on your business card.

Speaker 1:

Authority comes from alignment, when what you believe, what you value and how you act are all pointed in the same direction. That's when you walk in real authority. Think about it. Every breakthrough in your own life, every single one of them, started when you finally trusted yourself. Maybe you applied for a job, left a relationship or started a business, or simply said no more. You see, authority begins the moment you realize I don't need permission to be me. Let me give you an example. Earlier in my career, I was climbing the corporate ladder at a Fortune 100 company. I had the sales awards, the recognition, the applause, but deep down, I was tired of living by someone else's definition of success. When I finally trusted my own vision to step into coaching to build something of my own that was authority, not arrogance, not ego, but alignment. So let me give you four practical strategies to help you to begin to walk in your own authority, because I just don't want you to be inspired, I want you to be equipped.

Speaker 1:

Strategy number one is to listen to your inner voice. You see, we live in a world that's full of noise, notifications, opinions, 24-hour commentary, but you see, authority starts when we tune into our inner self, and that means to create moments of stillness. It means to journal in the morning, or to take that walk without your cell phone, or simply to meditate, because in that quiet your inner wisdom becomes clear. Let me give you an example. Sarah was a person who would wake up in the morning and scroll through social media. Her mind was filled with everybody else's voices before she even heard her own. When she stopped and started journaling in the morning, her confidence grew because she could hear her inner voice again.

Speaker 1:

Strategy number two is to make decisions without over explaining. You see, authority shows up in the way you make choices. You don't need a panel of people to approve every decision. Approve every decision. Start small. Decide what restaurant you want to go to what classes you want to take or what idea you want to launch, without having to wait for everyone's opinion. The more you practice this, the more natural it becomes. Let me give you an example. Think of how often you've explained a simple no with a five-minute speech.

Speaker 1:

Standing in your own authority sometimes means just saying no, that doesn't work for me, and leaving it there. Now, protecting your energy with boundaries is strategy number three. Standing in authority means recognizing that your time and energy are valuable. Boundaries aren't selfish, they're self-leadership. Now, setting boundaries might look like saying no to a draining conversation or limiting how much access certain people have to you. You see, you can't pour into your calling if you're constantly leaking energy on things that don't serve you.

Speaker 1:

Now, strategy number four is to own your own story. Now, this strategy is a powerful one. You see, your story, every struggle, every victory has shaped you into the person you are today. So stop hiding it, stop apologizing for it and start owning it, because authority isn't perfection, it's authenticity, and people connect with the real you far more than they will connect with a polished mask. Now, as we wrap up this episode, I want to leave you with this thought Standing in your own authority isn't about dominating others.

Speaker 1:

It's about mastering yourself. It's about living aligned, confident and free. So here's my challenge for you this week Make one decision based solely on your own conviction. Not fear, not comparison, not the need for outside approval. Just trust yourself. And when you do, I want you to notice how life responds. Doors will start to open, confidence will begin to rise and you will realize that the authority was never out there. It was always inside you. Well, that's our show for today.
